Memorial Day Remembrance
Monday May 31, 2010 is memorial day. For some it just means the beginning of summer or a three day weekend. But the true meaning
behind this holiday is a bit more somber. Thus, for others it is a day to go to the cemetery’s of loved ones and clean the gravestone or just sit quietly.
Originally called Decoration Day this is the day of remembrance for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice serving our nation. In 1915, Moina Michael was inspired to wear red poppies on Memorial Day in honor of those who died in service.

How far does your medical coverage go?
A woman and her husband took a trip to Southwest China. While there the husband slipped and fell backwards on a hotel walkway made of marble. The couples regular health insurance covered many of the expenses, but it did not cover flying him home on a jet specially equipped for critically ill patients and medical equiptment. The cost for this trip home exceeded $100,000.

Teen Liability

The boy was told by his parents that he was not allowed to take the car unless going to specific places. He decided that he could get around the disciplinary action, and went out with his friends.
There was an accident with serious injuries.

Dog Bite Prevention Week
There are nearly 74.8 million dogs in the United States. There are approximately 800,000 bites each year. Maricopa reported just under 5800 bites in 2009. Nearly 80% of dog attacks are to friends or family of the dog owner. May 16-22 is Dog Bite Prevention week in Maricopa County.
All dog owners need to understand their potential liability should their animal bite, maul or, heaven forbid, kill someone. A single bite could cost you tens of thousands of dollars — a lawsuit, hundreds of thousands — and your insurance coverage might not apply. If the attack is especially serious, you could even go to jail.

Odds are 70% you’ll need long term care
Studies predict that an individual today has a 70% chance of needing long term care (LTC) in their lifetime.
Currently, the annual cost to a person needing LTC is near $75,000. In 2030, that figure will skyrocket to $300,000 annually per person for the 23+ million Americans needing LTC. Will you have that kind of money to spare?
